Projects from my "21 Secrets Workshops"

I am participating  in the "21 SECRETS online workshops"
It consists of 21 instructors teaching 21 different workshops relating to Art Journaling.   I have just completed my 4th workshop and have acquired many new ideas to use in my journals, etc.

I just finished Martha Lever's class on making credit card flowers.  Here are some examples of greeting cards I made using my practice flowers.

15 MINUTES TO INSANITY by Gina Rossi Armfield.  This is a journal page I made after taking Gina's workshop.

This is a handmade canvas that I collaged and painted from Alma Stoller's class, "Child's Play Workshop 2".

Pages from my lettering journal

I'm about half way through my online "Letter Love" class.

Embrace today  is created with a black pen, stamp and watercolors.  I also had a few scraps of decorative tapes I attached at the bottom left corner.

The background for Carla was colored with pan pastels.

The words and doodles here, were done with metalic gel pens on black cardstock. The bird and branch is a punch from Stamp'n Up.

More mixed media canvas art

Diana Glasson collaged and painted this canvas.  She wasn't happy with the one she did in my class so decided to start over.  First she painted over the canvas with gesso, and then added collage, etc.  Diana took what she learned in my class and some ideas from Kelly Rae Roberts book "Taking Flight" and made this beautiful picture.  Fabulous colors and collage elements.

Jeanne Schley painted and collaged this canvas.  I love it.  Great colors, background and embellishing (stamps, stencils, rubons, and doodling with pen.

Mixed media canvas art

This post is related to my February 12th post on a mixed media canvas class I taught.  At the time I did the post I didn't have any photos of projects done by the students in the class.  Now I do have some of the finished projects which turned out fabulous.  I love how each person took what they learned and made it truly their own.

This was made by Sandy Taylor.   I love her choice of collage items.  For the dress she used some corrugated paper cut into a skirt shape and colored it, it added wonderful texture and interest to the canvas.

This was Linda Cinnamon's canvas.  Wonderful choice of colors.  The butteflies really pop out on the page.  Doodling on the page added texture, love it.

Nancy Dueker was the artist for this canvas.  I love those colors.  Layered backgrounds with stenciling and doodling really make the girl pop.

Ann Mendehlson was the artist for this lovely canvas.  Love the background layers.  Great use of stencils, collage items, and colors.  Good use of buttons.

Didn't these gals make wonderful art pieces that they should be proud to hang in their homes?

Artfest 2012

I attended Artfest, March 28th thru April 1st.  It did not disappoint me, I loved every minute. This was my 3rd Artfest.  I met and made new friends, learned new techniques, enjoyed all the extra activities and the ambience of Fort Worden.

The following are pictures from my journal pages.

Next 3 pictures are of the classes I attended.

People and trades.

I had a really late flight back to Arizona on April 1st.  Since my family lives in the Seattle area, I was able to spend some time with my kids.  Keegan is my grandson, Debbie (my daughter) and I don't have a photo but my son's Alan and Trevor were with us as well.  This was a real treat.

Online classes

I am taking a lettering class from Joanne Sharpe.  I love this class.  These are some of my journal pages from the lessons.  Writing is something I haven't done much of in my journals because I thought you needed to do calligraphy in order to make pretty words.  This is more like doodling letters which I can do.  If this is something you are interested in check out the link I included.

This is what I'm working on in Carla Sonheim's "Faces" class.  It's really helping me gain more confidence in my drawing.

Spring blooms in Arizona

I love the flowers in the desert.

Prickly-pear

 Roses

Hibiscus

This bush has been blooming for a couple of months and is still producing blooms.  I have no idea what it is named.  It's my absolute favorite.
