Monday

This week I made some domino necklaces.  Terry drills the holes for me, then I color, stamp and embellish them.  I use sharpies, silk inks, watercolors, etc. for coloring the backgrounds.  Stazon black ink works well for stamping images onto the dominos.  I color images with prismacolor pencils, watercolors, twinkling H20's, sharpies and more.  Embellish with beads, glitter and charms.   I usually use Diamond glaze to attach the beads and small embellishments. I'm always finding something different to add to the dominos.

Instructions to make these cute little gift bags are in the latest Somerset "Greencraft" magazine.

More Misfits.  I made these for my great granddaughters, Taylor and Payton for their 2nd birthdays.  They are so much fun to make.

August 17, 2011

This picture is painted and collaged on a  5" x 7" canvas.  I used acrylic paints, gesso, paper cloth, rub ons and collage papers.   The flowers were re-painted 3 times.  Just couldn't get them right.  That's what I like about acrylic paints, if you don't like it, you paint over it.

More pages from my Strathmore Journal.  I've had such a good time creating these pages.  Wondering, what did I do before Art Journaling?

I made flowers for my Journalfest trades.  These are made from a Tim Holtz's die by Sissix.  It is a long decorative strip, called Mini Paper Rosettes.  They are easy to make and so pretty.

Moleskine Journal Pages

This was my first Journal.  I started it in September 2007 when I took my first Journal class from  Jessica Wesolek in Santa Fe, New Mexico.  You can see how regular I have been with my Journaling. The book is nearly finished.  These are some pages I recently completed. This is a book of events in my life.

The first three pages are from a visit to my Mom's.  She lives in Vancouver and I visit her for a few days each month from June through October as often as I can.  Recently I purchased a "Polaroid Pogo Printer" which I just love.  It is small enough to carry with me so I can print out and use photos in my journal when I'm away from home.

The following two pages are from a recent annual (for the past 3 years) slumber party with two of my favorite girl friends.

Here is the link for the Pogo Printer.

Stuffed things - Misfits

I love these little stuffed Misfits.  I bought the book "Make Your Own Misfits" (see the URL below).  Just had to make some of these stuffies after seeing the images in the book.  I used the same pattern for both but because of the way the fabric stretched they came out different shapes and sizes. Also, I didn't enlarge the pattern to the recommended size because I wanted them smaller.  They were very quick to make and inexpensive to make because I used recycled clothing for the bodies.

My Strathmore Journal

A few months ago I took a free online  journal workshop from "Strathmore".  There were 3 different classes, each running for 4 weeks.

These are some of the pages I created.

I took before and after photos of a few pages so I could see how much they changed as I worked on them.

I really like the colors on the finished page.  I colored the white page with yellow and orange, then covered it with kraft colored printed tissue paper and collaged other items over it.  Then I added color, stencils, rubons, and more collage items.

I really like both of the Yoga pages.
My daughter's Yoga photos inspired me to do this page.  She owns  "Seven Hot Yoga" which is located in Renton, WA.  I really like the look of the gesso stenciled through sequin waste.

I started with the bench on the blue green background.  I love these colors.  Used photos, stencils, rubons, doodles, and stamps.

I bought the die cut with the man holding an umbrella, decided I needed to use it, and created "it's raining cats and dogs".

I started this page with a flower stencil, traced several, then colored them.  The red tape was some packing tape I bought at Michael's for $1.  I also found some white tape with holes in it at Home Depot, I tore pieces and added it along the edges.

I bought some Tempura paints at the Goodwill.  I played with them on these pages just to get an idea of what kind of look I could get on paper.  Wanted to see how much pigment was in the paint, whether it was opaque, did it blend well, etc.  I need to work with them more, however, I do like the backgrounds that I made from these paints.

This was my favorite journal page.  I loved everything about it, the colors, the theme, the collage items and the way it all blended together.
